Red flags
- Painless progressive jaundice
- Abdominal/liver mass
- Weight loss
- Systemic features (fever, night sweats, anorexia)
- History of Drug & Alcohol misuse
- Children
- First 24 hours after birth
- Prolonged jaundice >2 weeks
- Poor feeding/weight gain
- Lethargy
Investigations to consider
- FBC, CRP/ESR, blood film
- Reticulocyte count
- Clotting screen
- U&Es, LFTs, GGT, Amylase
- Auto-antibody screen
- Serum iron and TIBC
- Serum ceruloplasmin
- Serum a1-antitrypsin
- Viral serology (Hepatitis screen)
- USS
- ERCP
- MRCP
- CT scan
- Liver biopsy
